Who is this for?
This pilgrimage is for women seeking space to reflect, reconnect, and move through a personal transition, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. You don’t need prior Camino experience, just an openness to the journey.
What if I am LGBTQIA+? Am I welcome?
This pilgrimage is intentionally created with care, respect and inclusion and as a women- centered experience, while also honoring that gender and identity is personal and expansive. If you feel aligned with a woman’s healing space and the intention of this journey, you are welcome.
I also understand that choosing the right environment matters. If you’d like to talk through whether this feels like a good fit, I’m here for that conversation.
How physically demanding is it?
We walk 6–12 miles per day at a steady pace. Some terrain includes hills and uneven paths. You’ll receive preparation guidance beforehand, so you feel ready.
Do I carry my bag?
Your main backpack is transported daily, if you choose. You’ll carry only a small daypack with essentials. There may be a day or two when you have the option to carry your backpack, for those who would like to experience that part of the pilgrimage.
What kind of accommodations can I expect?
We stay in comfortable guesthouses and small hotels. Rooms are typically shared, offering both connection and rest.
Do I have to always walk with the group?
No. This is your Camino. You are encouraged to walk solo, with other pilgrims within or outside of the group. We will connect later in the afternoon at our destination for the day.
Will there be group activities?
There will be optional moments of reflection and connection, balanced with plenty of personal space to walk at your own pace.
Do I have to receive bodywork or massage?
No. All bodywork is completely optional. It’s available as a supportive add-on, but there is no expectation or requirement.
What if I can’t walk 10 miles?
You are encouraged to move at your own pace. Some days may feel more challenging than others, and we will talk through realistic expectations during your preparation. There are options along the Camino to shorten stages when needed, and support is available to help you navigate that.
What if I get blisters or feel physically uncomfortable?
This is a common part of long-distance walking, and we prepare for it. You’ll learn prevention strategies before the trip, and you’ll have guidance on how to care for your feet along the way. Support is always available. You won’t be left to figure it out alone.

The Sankofa Philosophy on the Camino
This retreat is rooted in the same philosophy that guides my work at Sankofa Massage and Coaching. It's a living expression of Sankofa, the wisdom that we move forward by learning from where we have been. As you walk this journey, you are invited to meet your past with compassion, gather the insight it holds, and carry it forward with clarity and intention.
This experience is designed to support you before, during, and after the Camino. Through a blend of:
Intentional walking
Reflective coaching
Optional bodywork
Supported community
This is not a standalone experience; you are learning how to integrate the lessons into your life.
Support on the Camino
Coaching
Walking creates space. Coaching helps you listen to what arises. As your body settles into the rhythm of the trail, thoughts, questions and memories often surface naturally. Coaching offers gentle structure for that process.
Prepare: Prepare physically, mentally, and set intentions
Activate: Reflect through conversation, journaling, and quiet moments
Integrate: Incorporate what you've discovered into your daily life
This is how the journey continues long after you’ve returned home.
MASSAGE & BODYWORK
Walking day after day asks a lot of the body. Optional massage and bodywork are offered to:
Support recovery
Relieve muscle tension
Restore balance in the body to help you stay grounded and present
When the body feels supported, the journey becomes more sustainable and deeply felt.
Camino Moments & Memories
YOUR CAMINO GUIDE & COACH
Tye Burrell
Registered Nurse, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Certified Trauma Informed Coach
The Camino de Santiago is more than a walk; it’s a journey that transforms you from the inside out. My first pilgrimage in 2023 on the Frances route was one of the most profound and transformative experiences of my life. Since then, I’ve completed two more caminos and a portion of the Via de la Plata in my spiritual journey. So, I understand the physical, emotional, and reflective nature of the pilgrimage.
With years of experience traveling globally, planning and leading travel adventures, I’ve found my purpose in helping women embrace this sacred path with courage, community, and curiosity. The Camino is truly something special, a journey you must experience to understand.
